I was an average student in high school in areas of reading and writing, particularly in English classes. Readings and materials from high school’s English classes were, at times, difficult for me to understand, but they were mostly manageable, and I could perform decently well in my writing assignments and exams for the most part. However, this also means that my high-school proficiency in writing is likely to be inadequate in handling college-level writings.
I have always wanted to become a better writer so that I could communicate my ideas with clarity and ease. But as I spent most of my time dabbling in the fields of mathematics and the sciences, I rarely practiced writing beyond basic data presentation and recording. And as a result, my writing ability has not improved noticeably for the past two to three years.
I will take this opportunity to write a great deal in the English course, and through this large volume of practices, I believe I could identify and improve my areas of weakness in writing and master new writing techniques. By the end of this course, I hope I will be twice as good as a writer than before.
