Blog 12 - Podcast Project Idea

After listening to the various podcasts with different ways of manipulating voices and sound effects during the English class today, I think I want to do a voice-based guided tour to introduce others more about Singapore.

I think a lot of my peers here in college perhaps only heard about Singapore in news reports about some controversial issues in the country like the chewing gun ban or the death penalty. Others may know a little more about Singapore based on the recent Hollywood hit Crazy Rich Asian. Hence, many of my new friends in college were shocked when I told them Singapore is a country that has land space smaller than that of Rhode Island. But there is a lot more interesting things about Singapore like how it transformed from a third-world country to a first-world country in just thirty years, or how it is a melting pot for both the eastern and western cultures.

Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity to produce a sound tour that introduces various interesting and exciting aspects of Singapore including its culture, political system, people, and places to visit in Singapore. I would act as a tour guide and narrate for the whole tour, while adding sounds that simulate that it is in fact a guided tour. I will also employ sound clips that best represent Singapore in the podcast to enhance the whole experience of the tour.
